It is concerned with collection and dissemination of news through print media (news papers and magazines) as well as electronic media (Radio, Television, web). In print journalism one can work as a editor, reporter, columnist, correspondent etc. where as in electronic journalism one can be a reporter, writer, editor, researcher, correspondent and anchor. - In a broad sense, the tasks of a Journalist include the following:
- gather news and information by interviewing people and covering events;
- undertake research to provide background information for articles;
- assess the suitability of reports and articles for publication or broadcasting within an established style and format and edit as necessary;
write articles that comment on or interpret news events and may put forward a view on 
behalf of the publication; 
present news on-air;- write, speeches and prepare media releases; and
- write, edit and produce promotional material such as brochures, newsletters and reports.
